- County: Värmlands län
Actions
Description
Undulating coniferous forest landscape with elements of natural forest character, rich in large wetlands and small lakes.
Goback-Berttjärnshallen is a long narrow forest area with elements of lake, mire and marsh. The woodland has a clear fire character. The forest is largely natural forest-like, with a high incidence of natural structures, mainly old pine trees and coarse, sparsely-branched silver pines, flames, fire sounds and newly added dead trees creating a primeval forest-like impression. Some pines reach an age of around 250-300 years.
Animals and plants
Red-listed species such as dwarf beak lichen, broktagel, lung lichen and wood moss are scattered in the area. Norwegian beak lichen is a red-listed species found in the area that grows on stones and trunks in forest areas with long forest continuity. The species is sensitive to drying out and therefore cannot withstand clear felling of its habitat. Another species that also requires moist environments with a stable microclimate is the critically endangered lichen broktagel. Grouse tracks show strong indications that the forest contains a grouse lek.
