Enberget, Naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Värmlands län
Actions
Description
Small and creeping trees surrounded by large open patches of heather and crowberry give a mountain feeling on the top of Enberget. If you're lucky, you may see a lichen jay.
The reserve was established to preserve and benefit old coniferous forest and the birds: capercaillie, black grouse, wolverine, three-toed woodpecker, grey woodpecker and skylark. The area is part of the EU's ecological network of protected areas, Natura 2000.
Animals and plants
The reserve has high botanical values in the form of rare vascular plants, mosses, lichens and wood fungi. The zoological values are also high. The forest with its old trees and rich occurrence of lying (flames) and standing dead trunks (dry bark) constitutes a very favorable habitat for many birds and wood-living insects. On the top plateau, about 650 meters above sea level, there is a high-altitude spruce forest of mountain forest character where the lichen jay often lives.
Facilities
The last part of the road and the parking lot are in poor condition. The terrain on the hiking trail is steep and rocky and at times very demanding.
