Vandring till Högmokällan

When: Tuesday, September 1, at 1:00 p.m.

Where: Meet at the recycling center, Furuvägen
10, Älvkarleby.

At Högmokällan there is a
rich fen, a rare habitat that is exceptionally rich in plants and animals. Many species that depend on
wet soil, lime, and light live here. Högmokällan is an
extremely rich fen, which means that the water’s lime content is very high. A small cold spring
wells up in the fen.

From the meeting point, where
parking is available,
we’ll hike along winding forest trails to the spring. We’ll have a snack break near
the spring and then walk back through the forest. Distance: approx. 3.5 km; bring a snack.
