Wikparken

The 15th-century Wik Castle is surrounded by a beautiful nature park with old oaks, hazel groves and grazing animals. In April and May, the ground glows with wood anemones, bluebells and other spring flowers. In the fall, the crowns of the trees burn in red, yellow and orange.

You arrive at the castle and the folk high school, the nature park adjoins the castle area and stretches away along the water. Here you can take a leisurely walk along easy paths where small information signs tell you about the trees, plants and animals. Wikstigen (3.2 km) takes you through deciduous forests, pastures and apple orchards. There are sheep and cows in the pastures. If you want a shorter walk, choose the Genvägen, a 1.2 km circular path in the middle of the park.

Wikparken invites you to play. Along Wikstigen, towards the water, is a hut-building area. Use sticks and branches lying on the ground and your imagination to build the huts!

After your walk you might want to take a bath. Below the castle there is a bathing area with lawns and jetties. The bathing area is managed by Uppsala municipality. Feel free to bring a coffee, stop at one of the picnic tables or spread out your blanket under one of the old oaks. There are large grass areas around the castle.

Services: Information signs, paved paths, dry toilets, viewing platforms, bunkhouses. Restaurant at Wik Castle and during the semesters there is lunch at the Folk High School, but both require a performance.
