Spökbacken

Spökbacken is an area with exciting nature and history. It consists of hay meadows with a very rich flora and fauna. North of these fields is "Spökbacken proper", which is a large ancient remains area with almost 100 graves. There is an ongoing project to prepare the area. The project includes a path, a rest area and information signs. There is currently a parking lot for visitors.

**Nature in the area

The area is home to several rare species that require special care in nature. These are mainly butterflies and vascular plants, such as the critically endangered Gotland swordtail moth. This small butterfly feeds on the swordtail, of which there are plenty in the area. There are also small and broad-browed swallowtails, halberd, shamrock and lesser celandine.

The land at Spökbacken has been grazed and mown continuously for a very long time. At present, the land is managed by mowing and grazing.
