Description

The island of Rotskär is located on the outskirts of Skutskär, at the mouth of the Dalälven River in Gävle Bay. In a clearing on the steep bank of the Dalälven lies Rotskärsängen. Among other things, meadowsweet, sundew and field bindweed bloom here. Next to the meadow is a nice picnic area with a fireplace, picnic table and a nice view of the river.

Discover the meadow's flowers or take a walk along the beach at Rotskär. You can hike a 2.5 km trail that takes you around the southern tip of Rotskär and back. The path goes through pine forest where some trees are over 150 years old. The path is not marked in the terrain.

Rotskärsängen is one of Uppsala county's natural treasures. A nature spot is an area with high natural and outdoor values that is accessible to visitors.

Service: Parking, picnic tables, fireplace with benches and wood storage, information signs.
