**Avoid visiting the nature reserve in windy weather. There is a high risk of falling trees.

As a result of the dry summer of 2018 and the spruce bark beetle infestation, there are many dead spruces in the reserve. This means a high risk of dead spruces falling and we advise you not to visit the area in windy weather.

The unmarked paths south of the stream are closed until further notice.

Description

Örnsätraskogen är ett litet naturreservat 15 km nordväst om Uppsala. Genom området går Linnéstigen jumkilsvandringen som är en av Uppsalas åtta Linnéstigar. Tanken med den här fältvandringen på Linnés tid var att se stora barrskogar och våtmarker, något som man fortfarande finner här.

Skogen i Örnsätra är över 100 år gammal. Det var länge sedan man bedrev något skogsbruk här så naturen känns vild och opåverkad. Rakt igenom reservatet går en dalgång med en orörd bäck, "Örnsätrabäcken". Det finns gott om död ved vilket gynnar sällsynta arter av hackspettar, skalbaggar och mossor. Bland annat finns de rödlistade arterna tretåig hackspett, svart taggsvamp, vedtrappmossa och grön sköldmossa i reservatet.

Parking next to the road with space for about 4 cars. From here it is a 1 km hike along the Linnaeus Trail to the reserve boundary.

There is no bus service to the nature reserve. Bus 844 runs on road 272. From road 272 it is 3 km to the nature reserve.

By car: From road 272, turn off where it is signposted towards Idrottsplats and Linnéstig. Continue to follow the signs towards the sports ground. Where you then turn left into the sports field itself, continue straight ahead for another 2.5 km to the reserve's parking lot. Follow the signs with the Linnaeus Trail symbol.
