Description
Snowy winter or budding spring. Blooming summer or colorful autumn. Kungshamn-Morga Nature Reserve is just as beautiful all year round! Here you will find rustling forest, open fields and grazed meadows. The nature reserve contains a three-kilometer section of Uppsalaåsen, with good opportunities for Mälar views from above. Or up close; the long sandy beaches and proximity to Uppsala make the area very popular!
You enter the reserve from several directions. A hike from Flottsund in the north takes you up the ridge and through coniferous forest that soon turns into sparser forest with impressive pine trees. The first bathing place you come across is framed by these beautiful pine pillars. Two more bathing spots are available if you continue a little further south.
There are also three parking lots along road 255. The northernmost is at Djupviken. It's a good starting point if you want to visit any of the bathing areas. The first part of the walk down to the water is along a small gravel road.
From the intermediate parking lot, you follow well-trodden paths to the beautiful oak garden, a wonderful picnic spot overlooking the water. There are old, large oak trees that provide shade on hot summer days. Cows graze in the meadow. The grazing animals create a lovely spring flora of, among other things, wood anemones and nunwort.
The parking lot at the far south end is suitable for those who want to visit the ancient castle and the mountain overlooking Lake Mälaren. The paths here are not as easy to follow as in other parts of the reserve.
A hike through the entire reserve from north to south will be 6-7 km long, one way, but there are many opportunities to find shorter routes.
Services: Parking lots, information boards, bathing areas, trails, dry toilet at the Oxtorget bathing area.
Manager: Kungshamn-Morga is managed by the Friherre Carl Cederströms Minne Foundation, which also owns the land.
