Källarberget

Between Fagerviken and Storsand, north of Skärplinge, lies Källarberget. Källarberget itself is a 17 m high ridge that slopes steeply down to the northern shore. The mountain is covered by windswept pine forest, and at the top is an old pilot view. From here you get a magnificent view of Lövstabukten and the Bothnian Sea. The coast outside is open and has no archipelago.

Källarberget has an exciting geology. The ice sheet has left clear traces here in the form of ice grooves, shingle fields and pot-like formations. But the area is also interesting for birdwatchers as many seabirds pass by here during the migration season in spring and fall.

The pilot house on Källarberget was completed in 1912 and operations continued until the late 1960s. The pilot house can be rented for overnight stays via the village farm association, which is responsible for the maintenance of the house.

From the parking lot, a path leads past the reserve's largest stone square and up to the pilot cabin at the top. From there it continues in a loop through forest groves, over nice bathing and picnic rocks and past several stone squares. The trail is 1.4 km long in total and is hilly and uneven in places.
