Description

In the middle of Lake Mälaren, south of Enköping, lies the island of Bryggholmen with its manor house and beautiful landscape. People have lived and farmed here for more than 1000 years. A large part of the island is a nature reserve. Here you will find a varied landscape with pastures, fields, forests and wetlands. The forests are full of noble deciduous trees such as oak, maple and lime. Look out for the mistletoe, which lives as a parasite in the trees. Mistletoe is rare in Uppland, but Bryggholmen has plenty of it.

Three hiking trails run across and around the island. They start from the manor and are 2-4 km long. You can walk to Salta Skär, for example, where there is a picnic area with a fireplace and a bathing jetty. There is also a picnic area with a fireplace at Hästskoviken. Also take the opportunity to visit Bryggholmen's garden with its flowers, berry bushes and fruit trees. It is located adjacent to the manor.

There is much to see and do at Bryggholmen. Many schools come here on camp school. There are two campsites with tent cabins. For individuals who want to stay a little longer, there is a hostel or cottages for rent. In summer you can have a coffee at Café Äppelboden. Maybe you want to take a paddle on Lake Mälaren? Canoes and rowing boats are available for hire.
