Stenfjället

A jewel for the summiteer

Start at the Sandtjärn rest area. The trail starts in a flatter terrain before an easier climb up Sandtjärnrun. Continue past the windbreak at Hjärttjärn and the pass towards the Norwegian border. Fine low-lying marshes are passed on the footbridge. Continue up towards Riksröse 160 with fantastic views of mountains in all directions. Riksröset is a barren and beautiful hiking destination for those who do not want to go all the way to the top of Stenfjället. If the weather is dry and you want more of a challenge, you continue with two passages with "splitting"/scrambling, ie you need to use your hands here. Please note that we do not recommend these passages if it is wet and raining outside. Once up the two precipices, the trail joins the Norwegian summit trail. Easier climb the last bit to the top. Same way back again.
