Hensjönäset, Nature reserve

Southeast of Tingsryd, between the clear-water lake Stora Hensjön and the re-growing reed lake Lilla Hensjön runs a low isthmus. The reserve has been protected since 1970 and most of the 32 hectare land area consists of beech forest. The reserve also includes 77 hectares of water areas.

In the 19th century, the water level in the lakes was lowered to expose more land. Outside a clear sea wall, a 10-30 meter beach was created. There are plenty of bushes on that land today. Some old pines also grow along the shore.
