Description

Lindänget’s grazed beach meadows are beautifully situated along Lake Orsa. Migratory birds stop here to rest on their way north or south. Here, lime-loving plants bloom, and rare snails, butterflies, and dragonflies thrive. With the help of birdwatching towers and trails, visitors can enjoy this paradise!

Beautiful landscape with diverse nature

The landscape around Lindänget is very appealing, with views out over Lake Orsa and the highlands in the background. The bright, open cultural landscape is also appealing, as is the deciduous forest in the area. Lindänget is home to two distinct habitat types: the open lakeshore meadow to the south and the forested area to the north.

High Conservation Value for Various Species Groups

The area’s primary natural value lies in the shore meadows, with their rich birdlife consisting of both resting migratory birds and breeding resident birds. During bird migration, a wide variety of ducks, waders, and passerines can be seen in the area, including the double snipe and the jack snipe, whose spectacular mating calls can be heard on late spring evenings. Among the regularly breeding birds are the crested lark, common snipe, black-headed gull, Arctic tern, reed warbler, lesser spotted woodpecker, greenfinch, and long-tailed tit.

The beach meadows are also of botanical interest, with several species indicating the presence of lime in the soil. One such species is the grass “älväxing.” The lower fauna is rich, featuring, among other things, the lime-marsh snail. Among the insects, there is a species-rich fauna of butterflies and dragonflies. As many as 762 different species have been recorded in the area!

Swamp Forests with Birds

The forest landscape is highly varied, with the greatest natural value associated with the deciduous and deciduous swamp forests, which are home to a very rich bird life. The Enån River flows into the area here. It is surrounded by deciduous swamp forests and forms a delta-like area as it reaches Lake Orsa.

Birdwatching and Hiking on Trails in Paradise

In Lindänget, there is a birdwatching platform offering a beautiful view of the shore meadows. The platform is located in the southern part of the area, along Lisselhedsvägen.

The County Administrative Board, in collaboration with the Municipality of Orsa, has established a new walking trail from the town center, heading south to the existing trails in the Lindänget Nature Reserve. The trail starts at Krokgatan, about 100 meters southwest of Orsa Kaffestuga. It continues across Skyttolabäcken via a bridge and then connects to the reserve’s existing trails.

An information sign for the reserve is in the works. Temporary trail signage is currently in place on Krokgatan. The trail is marked with orange paint on posts and trees.

The best way to explore this paradise is by walking or biking from downtown. There are also several parking spots at Brantuddens Preschool, adjacent to the trails.

Information about parking, trails, and signs is updated regularly on this page.
