Description
On the outskirts of Virsbo, next to Kolbäcksån, you will find Virsboåsen. Here, tall old pine trees grow on a ridge surrounded by marshland. On one part of the ridge, by the river, there is a small sandy beach with swimming opportunities. Here you can also grill in the fireplace on the beach. Remember to bring your own firewood.
There are several trails in the area totaling about 3 kilometers, some are wide and quite easy to get around on. The paths run partly on the pebble ridge along the river. In the southeastern part over Brännmossen, the trail runs over a footbridge. It connects the paths on the ridge and the path near the town, which is south of the reserve. Just north of the sandy beach there is a narrow bridge that takes you over a stream and further into the nature reserve.
You can see and hear birds all year round in the area. In the spring and summer, curlews play and the woodcock thrives along the beach edges. In winter it's quieter, but the forests are home to both tits and tits.
