Description

Karlbergsskogen was established in Köping by the forester Josef Arpi in 1826-1887.

In the mid-19th century, Köping was considered an ugly town, "thrown out on the plain and without any surrounding forest" and Josef Arpi was commissioned by the city to plant what is now called Karlbergsskogen.

Memorial: Josef Arpi was honored by the city with a memorial carved into a large rock with the inscription "To the planter, Josef Arpi, 1826-1887, of the community".
