Description
Tvåälvsleden, which literally means ”the trail of two rivers”, stretches 29 km between the Vindel River in Vindeln and the Ume River in Granö.
The trail starts in Vindelforsarnas Nature Reserve at Renforsen — one of the Vindel River’s most striking rapids — and winds through varied landscapes of forests, mires, and meadows. One section of the route follows the ancient Kyrkmarschspåret; used by past generations to walk to the Vindeln Church, hence the name ”the Church March Trail”.
The route also offers the Osttjärnbäcken nature reserve which hosts coniferous forests and wetlands, fed by two brooks which make this area so rich in biodiversity.
Rest areas and shelters can be found along the trail, and the trail itself is suited for hiking and mountain biking. A great day trip is visiting Fäboden, located midway along the route, which offers a scenic rest spot by Kulbäcken. It is furnished with firewood and an outhouse, and it is also accessible by car.
