Description
Forsla marsh, just south of Brandbergen, is one of the few rich marshes in the Stockholm area. Rich marshes have a special vegetation and here you can find unusual plants such as brown clover, spruce bracken and the orchids coral root, meadow lilies and mosquito flowers. In summer, parts of the marsh glow white with meadow wool and on the tufts you can find the insectivorous plant sundew. The marsh used to be more open in the past, when it was mown to provide winter fodder for the animals. To recreate a richer flora and fauna, Haninge municipality began restoring parts of the marsh in 2012. In the forest to the west of the marsh, you can find unusual species that are linked to old forests, such as the pine thistle fungus. There is also a fine stream ravine and there are paths for exercise or hiking, including the Sörmland Trail.
