Provskjutningsplats Spränggropen

Finspångs bruk has a history as one of the country's major manufacturers of cannons. The factory, which dates back to the 16th century, was a central part of the Swedish iron industry. Test firings were organized here at Spränggropen, and traces of this can still be seen today, including in the form of a foundation. A railroad was built to Spränggropen from the industrial area. The rails are gone but some of the embankment is still visible.

The last test firing at Spränggropen took place in 1912 and was a 75 mm cannon, ordered by the Navy.
