Mora torp i Lina naturreservat

The cultural landscape around Mora torp is old. There is a croft from the 17th century, ancient fields, pastures, fences, remains of a barn and graves from the Iron Age. Back then, farmers farmed the land here and grew their food, including potatoes. Now the Nature Center at Södertälje municipality manages the croft and nature reserve to preserve cultural history and biodiversity. The croft and pastures are surrounded by a fence.

In the garden and pastures around Mora torp there are many lovely places to have a picnic, play, climb and run. There are open areas with fine flora, hazel forest, large deciduous trees and boulders. There are several picnic tables around the croft, a cozy fireplace with a shelter/roof, benches and firewood, and information about all of Södertälje's nature reserves. There is a privy in the garden. The croft itself is locked except for individual events. From Mora torp, the red-marked Mora torp path leads you to Linasjön and the bird tower.

During the spring you can enjoy birdsong from, for example, starlings, cuckoos, black and white flycatchers, skylarks, and bushtits. All these species nest in the area. Many in some of the many bird boxes in the area. During the winter birds are fed in the garden. Look out for bullfinches, stone curlews, goldfinches and the other birds that visit the bird feeders. If you're lucky, you might see sparrowhawks hunting here.

Cows graze the pasture around Mora torp between May and October to keep the landscape open and to create conditions for a species-rich flora. To get into the meadow, you pass a ferry gate. From the parking lot you can also open the fence gates to enter the pasture but be sure to close after you.
