Vistkärrets vandringsleder

The easiest way to discover the exciting and varied nature of Vistkärret is to follow one of the hiking trails through the area.

The Rördromsstigen trail starts from the sports ground parking lot. The trail is 0.9 kilometers long and circles the sports field. Along the way you pass the bathing area down by Stångån and the edge of Vistkärret. Don't miss the detour onto the wide footbridge out into the reeds! The footbridge is 140 meters long and takes you out to a bird platform at the edge of the reeds towards Stångån. The piping plover trail and the detour out to the bird platform are accessible. This means that it is possible to get around with a wheelchair or pram, for example. Along the trail there are several benches and some picnic areas with bench tables where you can sit and enjoy the sun. And at the bathing area there is a barbecue area where you can make a fire and cook your food.

Just north of the footbridge out to the bird platform is another detour from the Rördromsstigen trail. It leads to a winding wooden walkway through the marsh. The path gives a lovely close contact with the marsh, almost like traveling through a mangrove swamp! It has roughly the same route as the ancient church path that previously crossed the area. The church path was already here in the 17th century and was used as a shortcut to the church right into the 20th century. Once you have crossed the footbridge, the trail continues in a circular loop through the lush and hilly deciduous forest between the marsh and Brokindsleden. During the summer months, you may come across one of the cows grazing in the forest here. Remember that dogs should always be kept on a leash in pastures with grazing animals and make sure that the gates are closed when you pass. The detour will be 1.2 kilometers long if you choose to walk both the trail and the loop back and forth.
