Huvudklitten naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Dalarnas län
Actions
Description
The Huvudklitten nature reserve is located on the eastern slope of Ärteråsberget, one mile north of Furudal. The area is home to spruce forests with large trees and a lot of dead wood.
Old spruces and dead wood are two things that are becoming increasingly rare in Swedish nature, which has disadvantaged many species of insects, fungi and lichens in particular, as they depend on these as habitats. It is therefore important to protect the places where old spruce trees are found.
Within the boundaries of the reserve there is also a valuable stream ravine where many interesting and rare species have been found. These include old spruce lichen, cat's foot lichen, wool tick and bronze lion. The reserve is left for free development.
