On the trail there are several opportunities to stop and reflect
the work and toil that was required to survive here
150 years ago. Could you have done it?
The Torprundan is a short and interesting trail in the Stora
Mountain Nature Reserve. Here you follow the traces of a bygone era. Peat foundations, tracks
of cellars, wells and stone fences testify that people lived here
people lived here a long time ago. A life on Stora Fjället was certainly not
easy. The farms Gerstorp, Tingsjötorp and Dalen were located here.
Remotely located in the primeval forests of Tiveden, between steep rift valleys,
sloping boulders, dark forest lakes and huge pines.
A short detour from the trail takes the hiker to Tjuvagömman, where
bandits of old stored the stolen goods after their theft tours on
Östgöta side. Here on Stora Fjället they could probably exhale after
a row across the wild waters of Lake Vättern.
The Torprundan is best reached from the parking lot at Stora Tingsjön. When the
you have turned off Rv49, do not drive into Ormahålan, but continue
another 0.5km to Stora Tingsjön. This parking lot is a bit
smaller but connects directly to Torprundan, Tingsjötorprundan and
Stora Fjälletrundan. These tours can be combined with advantage.
