Description

Southwest of Sticklinge there is a deciduous forest with old large oaks. Parts of the forest are grove-like, with plants such as meadowsweet and wood anemone in the field layer. The old oak trees are home to unusual fungi such as the heartwood fungus, oxtongue fungus and oak fungus, and lichens such as the yellow drop lichen, pink shield lichen, soot lichen and pencil lichen, which until 2018 was considered to be a separate species, but has now been discovered with modern technology to be a form of old oak lichen. On a couple of shaded oaks grows trap moss. On the ground grooved nailwort grows, which is only known from about twenty places in Uppland. The area also has old, coarse pine trees with pine thistle and coarse pine logs that are home to the unusual fungus winter tagging.
