Description
Munkaleden (The Monk's Trail) is a pilgrimage trail that follows the same path that the monks from Nydala Monastery are said to have walked when they visited the nunnery in Byarum. The Monk's Trail is part of the pilgrimage trail that runs between Santiago de Compostela in Spain, Vadstena and Nidaros/Trondheim in Norway. The trail, which is 40 km long, runs in varied terrain. There is also an alternative trail between Tallnäs and Byarum, which is 20 km long. Along the trail there are information boards regarding nature and historical sites, as well as meditation sites. The trail is open for hiking 1/5-30/9. Cycling is allowed along the Monk's Trail.
