Svensbodarna

Svensbodarna was built in the early 1600s. In 1667, the judgment book mentions that Hans Olsson i Gärde's listed shieling place in Svensbodarna was in conflict with a judgment letter from 1595. In the 1663 shieling list, it is stated that Svensbodarna is used by Österforskarlarna and Erik Olofsson i Gärde.

In the 1811-1817 census, Svensbodarna had eleven co-owners, seven of whom were from Österfors. The others came from Gärde, Moje and Tjärna.

In the summer of 1933, seven more farmers brought their cows here. The number of animals amounted to 19 cows and one heifer. Four out of five cottages were used.

Köpman-Karin, born in 1888 in Moje, stayed in "Svensbuan" from 1902 onwards for 52 summers. For several years she herded not only her own cows but also cows from Österfors. During her last year as a herdsman she had only goats.

On the old path from Moje to Svens- and Tjärnbodarna there is Fattig-Olles sacrificial stone, also called "Sälspungskälla". Walkers who put a coin, a flower or some other object in the "bowl" were allowed to make a wish.
