Facts
The Rällingberg mine dates back to 1841, when a farmer's boy named Carl Westerholm discovered a 700 m long ore strip. This was very important for Långshyttan's continued development as an ironworks, as the supply of iron ore was thus secured for a long time to come. On the site today are the remains of what was once a mining cabin, engine house, dynamite storage and transformer station. Within the area are also ruins of the concentrator, as well as remains of a widespread transportation system that included railways, canals and cable cars.
