Description
There are no marked trails, so here you go your own way through the old spruce forests on the Skeltberget slope.
There are plenty of really old spruces and pines up to 200 years old. On the ground are fallen trees, flames. The flames are important for many wood fungi, including wrinkled skin and woolly tick. Under the reserve's coarse spruce flames, a faint scent of coconut can also be smelled from the scent skin, another of the reserve's red-listed species. The rings on the spruces have been pecked by the three-toed woodpecker in search of food. In places, the terrain is quite difficult to access with moss-covered rock collections and large boulders.
There are quite a lot of deciduous trees in the forests and here and there are charred stumps. This is due to old forest fires. The old, coarse aspens are well used as nesting sites for forest birds and animals. Many of the willows are wrapped in lung lichen.
