Description
From the parking lot at the trailhead, it's a short hike up to the community center.
At Matt-Jons there are several open peat huts scattered on a slope in the mountain birch forest. There is also a barbecue area. It's a particularly beautiful hike in early summer, with birch and willow trees in bud, buttercups in bloom and small streams babbling to the accompaniment of cuckoos hooting.
From Matt-Jon's Sami hut, a path leads through the spruce forest to Jon-Ander's Sami hut with a restored bow-rod hut, shed and a goat house. The reindeer wall next to the hut is still visible. The last person to live there was Nils Fjällström and his wife Kristina, who moved away in the late 1940s.
