Lisselåsen, Naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Värmlands län
Actions
Description
Easily visited coniferous forest next to the E45.
The reserve was established to care for and preserve the valuable habitats of old pine and coniferous forests and the species found in the area.
The forest in the reserve is dominated by pine. In parts of the reserve, spruce has been thinned out. This has created a sparse pine forest with sunlit glades. Several pines are 200-300 years old. In the Lisselåsen reserve there are stumps that indicate that there has been a fire in the area. Some pines have what are known as fire scars, injuries that have been healed after the bark has been scorched by fire.
Animals and plants
Raggbock is a rare insect whose larvae live in sunlit pine forests (lying dry trees) with a lot of heartwood, which is created by fire. Late-growing, old spruce provides shade in another part of the reserve and creates an environment with higher humidity where lichens, mosses and fungi thrive. The area has a valuable cryptogamic flora with, among other things, the species violet-gray thorn lichen, brown-powdered needle lichen, dwarf goblet lichen, dropwort fungus, old spruce bowl and pine tick.
Culture
Here you can find wartime fortifications as well as coal pits and blast sites from early iron production. The earliest traces are from the Viking Age and early Middle Ages, i.e. the centuries around 1000 AD.
Devices
A 200 m long trail with information signs starts from the parking lot by the E45. There is also information about the nature reserves in Torsby municipality.
