Description

Meadow with very rich herbaceous flora.
The nutrient-rich bedrock with limestone and greenstone deposits means that the area has a rich flora. The northern part of the reserve consists of a limestone-affected wet meadow with some drier parts with limestone-affected and heath-dependent meadow vegetation. The southern part is dominated by young birch forest.

The reserve was established to protect and preserve the guckusko in one of the county's few plant sites. Like all of Sweden's orchids, the guckusko is protected. The area is part of the EU's network of valuable nature, Natura 2000.

Animals and plants

The meadow has a very rich herb flora with species such as spurge, soapwort, buttercups, hay flower and under-violet. Other species favored by the management are dwarf buttercup, field gentian, sedge, hairstar, maidenhair fern and cat's foot. A rare species for the area that is found in the lower part of the wetland is wiregrass. The population of guckusko has increased since the 1950s from about 10-15 to about 50-300 flowering plants.
