Bjurbäckens slussar (locks) - Bergslagskanalen

Flight of locks in surroundings of great natural beauty. Café.

An environment of cultural interest and natural beauty. In the fairway Filipstad-Karlskoga a canal with locks was constructed 1853-1857 to pass the rapid streams at Bjurbäcken. The flight of locks has 3 steps that lifts the boats about 11 m.

The locks are open for traffic all days in June, July and August.
Up at Bjurbäcken locks 10:00 and 15:00.
Down from Asphyttan lock (4.5 km north of Bjurbäcken) at 12:00 and 17:00 after announcement at least two hours in advance tel 073-9573975.
In May and September lockage by agreement

The café in the lock-keeper's cottage is open 11:00 - 18:00 Every day in June, July and August.

Guest harbour. No charge but electricity costs SEK 30:-/day.

You can make a trip on the canal even if you come by road. You can rent a quiet electric boat with room for four persons per hour (SEK 100:-). 4 hours (SEK 300:-) or day (SEK 400:-) Row-boats and canoes are also available
