visit the Fröberget cottage in the Tinnerö Oak Landscape!

We’ll tell you about
the cottage’s history, how the Linköping Ekopark Association uses and maintains
Fröberget, the association’s efforts to monitor and preserve the natural and cultural-historical values of the Tinnerö
Ekopark’s natural and cultural-historical values, as well as the association’s
efforts to showcase interesting and valuable parts of the area. Coffee
and pastries will be served!

Mushroom Hike in the Oak Forest

Thursday, September 3,
5:30–8:00 p.m.

In
Tinnerö, there are various types of forest as well as wetter areas. We’ll forage for both
edible mushrooms and other types, and wrap up with a review of what we’ve found. Bring
a mushroom basket or paper bag to collect them in.

Meet
at the Red Bridge—the parking lot at the turnoff to Rödberget.

The activity costs 20 SEK (free
for members of the Linköping Mushroom Club). No

Like to hike

Saturday, September 12,
10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Whether you’re
an experienced hiker or just looking to get out into the fresh air,
this is the perfect opportunity to gather your friends, try a pilgrimage hike, and
hike along the Östgötaleden trail.

Before the hike begins,
you’re warmly welcome to the meeting place at Vreta Kloster Church from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to
pick up maps and get tips for your hiking excursion. At the church,
you’ll also find the Linköping Mushroom Club, which will have a mushroom exhibit, answer questions, and
share their extensive knowledge of mushrooms.

The event
is organized in conjunction with Hiking Day, and you can choose your own pace and
route. Take the opportunity to explore the hiking trail that runs between Berg and Borensberg,
where you’ll hike along the Göta Canal on a section that’s both part of the Östgötaled and
a pilgrimage route.

For those who
prefer to walk in a group and have a guide along the way, three different group
hikes are offered: a full-day hike with a pilgrim guide, a hike in the forest near Flemma with
STF Linköping, or Nature Hike in the Motala Ström Ravine Nature Reserve together
with municipal ecologist Håkan Lundberg.

Hike in the Forest Near Flemma on Hiking Day

Saturday, September 12,
1:00 PM–4:00 PM

Our hike takes place in the woods near
Flemma, Stjärnorp. We’ll walk at a moderate pace on trails and small paths, covering about 6 km in approximately
2–2.5 hours. The terrain is slightly hilly in some places, but still easy to walk. At the top of
the ancient fortress Snaveborg, we’ll enjoy the packed lunches we’ve brought, and we’ll also walk along
the shore of Lake Roxen. As always, hiking boots are a good idea!

We’ll meet at the Vreta Kloster church
parking lot to carpool to the starting point.

Nature Walk in the Motala Ström Ravine Nature Reserve

municipal ecologist Håkan Lundberg and discover the unique and lush environment of
the Motala Ström Ravine Nature Reserve.

The hike
will last about 2 hours, including a break where you can bring your own snacks; the
hike is approximately 3 km long.

Come along to Hawaii

Sunday, September 13,

We’ll visit
the ruins of the Brotorp soldier’s cottage, which boasts an unusual and rich variety of flora, and then hike
on to Hawaii! In Hawaii, there’s a wild stream ravine featuring, among other things, plenty of
ostrich ferns. Janne Moberg will be our guide.

and sturdy shoes.

are good wooded areas with both deciduous and coniferous forests, and mushrooms may be found here

The Fascinating Ruins of Vattenåkarbacken

Saturday, September 19,

Join us for a
guided tour of Vattenåkarbacken in the Tinnerö Ecological Landscape. What traces can we see from
ancient times, and what can settlements and graves tell us about life on Tinnerö
long ago? We’ll also have the opportunity to see how parts of this history are preserved by
modern-day grave caretakers in the area.

On a Country Road in Autumn

Saturday, October 3,
9:45 a.m.–4:15 p.m.

Starting
at the beautiful Lidhult farm, we’ll take an approximately 12-km autumn hike
around Lake Ringsjön. We’ll start on a section of the Östgötaleden trail, which includes country roads and forest trails,
and continue along the country road through the old, rolling agricultural landscape with sweeping
views. Along the way, we’ll pass farms and houses that have stood for generations—some
still inhabited, others not. Eventually, we’ll reach the cultural reserve
Smedstorp’s double farmstead. It’s managed by the Östergötland Museum but is still
inhabited. Here we’ll stop for a snack and hear a bit more about this remarkable farmstead from
the 1700s. After that, it’s not far back to Lidhult. The hike
is of moderate difficulty, covering forest trails, village roads, a couple of steeper uphill sections, and a short
stretch through unmarked forest. Bring a packed lunch for 2–3 breaks. As always: dress
for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water.

at the Vidingsjö Fitness Center at 9:45 a.m. for a carpool to the starting point.

Mushrooms of the Sand Pine Forest

Sunday, October 4, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

We’ll
meet at Lilla Aska Cemetery and learn about the mushrooms of the sandy pine forest. Around
the cemetery, there is a pine forest growing on both calcareous and slightly less calcareous
sand. In such environments, you can usually find several interesting species of
spiny mushrooms and russulas around the turn of September and October.

are coming from Stora Aska.

Fall Hike at Stafsäter

Sunday, October 25, 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

We’ll
be hiking in an area around Stafsäter, south of
Linköping, that’s new to us at STF Linköping. Here, we’ll visit “unknown” places such as Damin, Persbo, Holvarebo,
and others. The old farming community has undergone major changes, but the landscape
still holds great natural value. We’ll walk on small gravel roads, trails, through
pastures, and partly over rough terrain—about 14 km.

Clothing
appropriate for the weather; boots are recommended, along with a packed lunch for 2–3 breaks.

Meeting
9:00 a.m. at the Vidingsjö Fitness Center for carpooling, or 9:30 a.m. at the
parking lot of the Stafsätter Nature Reserve.

globally unique oak landscapes and their inhabitants

Blixt has spent the last few years continuously exploring new areas of the oak landscape
with the aim of documenting its unique fauna. Join us on a journey through hollow trees,
natural pastures, hardwood forests, and more in search of the small creatures that make

Kingfisher
– a sapphire in the winter darkness

Saturday, December 12, 9:00–11:00 a.m.

The kingfisher is a bird many
dream of seeing. Several kingfishers overwinter
each year on the Stångån River near Nykvarn. On this guided tour, we’ll walk along the river and try to spot the Stångån’s sapphire.
The area is also a good spot for other wintering birds such as the little grebe, the dipper,
and the white-throated dipper.
