Description
Lilla Nissastigen is a hiking trail in Oskarström. Along the trail you can see the old industrial environments at the Scandinavian Jute Factory, the Railway Station, Maredsskolan. Further downstream to the old RYAB, "Sulfiten" and the workers' housing on the other side of the Nissan. The Scandinavian Jute Factory was built in 1 year and inaugurated in 1890, a somewhat amazing feat. At the beginning of the trail, you can see the canal that supplies water to the factory's power plant.
Poles and signs with numbers are placed along the entire trail. The corresponding numbers can be found in a printed guide that can be downloaded here as a pdf.
Among other things, there is the story of Oscar Björkman, who gave his name to Oskarström and about Mr. William W. Thomas, American consul in Stockholm who liked to fish for salmon near the White Bridge.
