**God, I breathe out my loneliness, I breathe in that I am yours.
Where would I escape your presence? Where would I flee from your gaze? If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I lie down in death, you are there too. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I go to rest at the end of the sea, you will reach me there and take me by the hand. If I say: Darkness may cover me, the light around me become night, the darkness is not dark to you, the night is bright as day, the darkness itself is light. Ps 139:7-12
"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" This is how people have cried out in all ages, this is how Jesus cried out on the cross. Sometimes we face the Night. In the face of death, grief, the senseless suffering, there is no relief. Perhaps we can at least hope that we are not abandoned, even though it may feel that way. Hope that no depth is so deep that it is not in God that we land. The Pearl of the Night wants to be a fellow traveler and remind us that no darkness is so dark that God's light cannot break in.
