Description

Ahlstorp is a very well-preserved crofting environment with associated meadows and outbuildings, perhaps one of Stockholm's best preserved crofts of its kind. During large parts of the 17th and 19th centuries, it served as a croft for a boatman, a soldier at sea. August Lindquist-Ahl was the last boatman at Ahlstorp. He retired in 1887, and in 1901 general conscription was introduced, ending the centuries-old boatman system. The croft was used until 1930 and was then rented out as a summer residence. In the early 1980s, it was threatened with demolition, but was taken care of by Tyresö Hembygdsförening, which keeps it open from time to time for the public.
