Description

Carl Linnaeus bought the Hammarby farm in 1758 and lived here mainly during the summer months. He also had his professorial residence in Uppsala. The interior of the house looks much as it did in Linnaeus' time, so you can really travel back in time to the 18th century.

In his garden, Linnaeus grew plants of all kinds. He made cultivation experiments on both domestic and exotic plants that he brought home from the Botanical Garden in Uppsala. Today there is a landscaped part but also a more wild part with both planted and spontaneous plants.

The hilly landscape around the farm has been recreated as it looked at the end of the 18th century. Go out through the gate and follow the 2 km long cultural trail through this historic landscape. The trail partly follows the path that Linnaeus walked to Sunday mass in the Church of Denmark. Along the path in the forest you will find Linnaeus' couch where, according to his own description, Linnaeus often took a rest with his dog Pompe.

You can visit the cultural reserve around the farm whenever you like, but the residential house is only open for visits during the summer. Here you also have to pay an entrance fee.

Services Parking, information signs, cultural trail, Linnaeus trail. In summer there is a café, museum, shop and guided tours.

Ett fantastiskt plats att bara vara på. Trevligt fik, rena toaletter. Titta in hur familjen Linné bodde.
