Description

Prästgårdsängens nature reserve has been established for its value for outdoor life, but also to preserve an old-fashioned agricultural landscape. Here you can walk along the Ljungbyån river through flower-rich pastures. If you're really lucky, you might see the shimmering kingfisher!

Colorful guest

In the moist soil along the Ljungbyån river, the alders form dense rows. Here and there are small openings towards the water where the bank is exposed. These are the kingfisher's hunting grounds. This colorful bird lives along the banks where it can be seen diving into the water in search of fish. Despite its eye-catching plumage, the kingfisher is hard to spot when it sits still.
