Description

The waymarked circular trail lets you explore much of the reserve, including an area that burned in the summer of 2023. With a bit of luck, you may spot the very rare and pyrophilic Geranicum bohemicum here.

In the small Hundsjön lake, both yellow and white water lilies grow.

You can follow the hiking trail for a full loop through the reserve, or walk from one bus stop to another.

Directions

Visitors reach Hundsjön Nature Reserve from two locations on Lännavägen Norrtälje:

  • At Gustavslund there is a road barrier from where you can walk on a forest road about 500 meters to the northwestern border of the reserve where the hiking trail begins. Bus stop Ensamma gården (Norrtälje).
  • From the southwest, at Nytorp/Addarsnäs, you can follow a small road that turns into the hiking trail. Bus stop Addarsnäs vägskäl.

Search for buses and time tables on SL, Greater Stockholm Public Transport. please note that some buses may need reservation in advance.

There is also a path from the northeast. Here, the road is closed for car traffic.

There is no designated parking next to the reserve.

Regulations

To protect the Hundsjön Nature Reserve, there are rules that you must follow. Within the reserve, it is prohibited to:

  • drill, chip, blast, carve, dig, paint, or in any way damage rock, soil, or stone
  • break branches, fell, or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs
  • damage vegetation by digging up plants or removing mosses, lichens, or wood-living fungi
  • camp for more than two consecutive days.
