Description
Uddbyfallet, the second rapids on the walk, flows between Lake Albysjön and the Baltic Sea. Here, too, the power of the water has contributed to various industries, the first being a flour mill in the 1400s. In 1621, one of Sweden's first paper mills was founded at Uddbyfallet, where, among other things, paper was produced for Europe's first banknotes.
During the 19th century, the plant was expanded into a roller and steam mill, but in 1895 the entire Uddby mill burned to the ground. After the great disaster, Stockholm's first hydroelectric power plant was built on the site, and today Uddby power station is still active and supplies electricity to around 500 households.
The power plant's house can be found right next to the path.
