Description
Stora Nyckelviken's summer manor was built in the 1740s for Herman Petersen, a successful director of the East India Company. Here, within easy sailing distance of his winter home in Stockholm, he created a complex of gardens, park, farm and small but stately buildings. Today, the manor house is used by Nacka municipality and is rented out for events. In summer, a café is open.
The façade's wood paneling is painted to resemble a more expensive stone house. The northern gable and the billiard wing are additions from the 1760s. The southern red wing, which may have been built as early as the 17th century, now houses Nacka's local history museum, with exhibitions on Nacka's earliest history, older crafts and objects from the home. The museum is open on Sundays and public holidays from late spring to early fall.
