Description
At Skälåker on south-eastern Gålö is Gålö Havsbad, one of the municipality's best sea baths with shallow sandy beaches and lovely cliffs. Several hiking trails start from here, and one of them leads out onto the long, narrow Havtornsudd. On the headland grows a gnarled, beautiful rocky pine forest, perfect for strolling in. In several places you will encounter fine bathing rocks and magnificent views out towards Mysingen. In spring and fall, the seabird migration passes by and at ice-out, large flocks of eiders and long-tailed ducks usually gather. From the cliffs you have good opportunities to fish for whitefish, herring and sea trout. Almost at the far end of the headland is an idyllic old croft. In the oak groves around the croft, there are plenty of wild meadow lilies and starflowers. Havtornsuddslingan is 4.5 km and marked with blue dots. Skälåker and Havtornsudd are part of Gålö Nature Reserve, which is managed by the Archipelago Foundation.
