Description

Saltsjöqvarn was built between 1888 and 1890. The builder was Holmberg & Möllers Qvarn AB. They chose the site partly because of its location by the fairway. Grain was brought here and finished flour was shipped out from here. The castle-like building was designed by the architect A W Bergström. The stately architecture was intended to reflect the company's success and strong economy.

In the late 1980s, the business was closed down by the then owner Kungsörnen. The core building from the oldest milling industry has been preserved and later converted into housing and a hotel. The wide quay below is a nice resting place with a view of Djurgården and the Stockholm inlet. If you don't want to continue walking, you can take the shuttle boat.
