Description

In northern Öja-Landsort there is an accessible rest area with benches and barbecue. Here you can make a fire or have a coffee in protection from the wind. Bring your own wood if you want to grill. The site has a hard-packed surface and generous dimensions around the barbecue, to give both wheelchairs and prams room to maneuver. The benches are built to suit people with limited mobility.

On the adjacent hill there is a bench table with fantastic views in several directions. The path here is grassy and gently sloping.

Next to the picnic area is the Öja-Landsort campsite, which is flat and grassy. It is located directly adjacent to the gravel road.

Water tap, waste sorting and toilet (note! not accessible) are in Norrhamn, about 300 m away. In Norrhamn there is also cottage rental, guest harbor, bike rental and café.

From the rest area you can connect to Öjaleden, a hiking trail that takes you around the island and several of its attractions. A path also leads up to Helveteskällan, one of the largest giant cauldrons in the country. The island trail and the path to Hell's Well both go through hilly terrain. They are not accessible.

Traveling to Öja-Landsort

You can travel to Öja-Landsort by your own boat or with Waxholmsbolaget's tour boat that leaves from Ankarudden. For information and current timetable see waxholmsbolaget.se. Please note that the boat calls at different piers at Öja-Landsort depending on the prevailing wind conditions. Return journey from Öja-Landsort to Ankarudden: A board at the crossroads at Västerhamnen indicates which port the boat departs from.

Note! Are you traveling with a wheelchair? Contact Waxholmsbolaget before the trip to check that the current ship takes wheelchairs on board.

By public transport: Commuter train/bus to Ankarudden, then connection with regular boat service to Landsort. For information on public transport (bus/commuter train) and current timetable see: sl.se For information on boat traffic and current timetable see [waxholmsbolaget.se] (https://waxholmsbolaget.se/)

By car: Car to Ankarudden. Then regular boat service to Öja-Landsort.

From Stockholm take road 73 towards Nynäshamn. At the Älgviken junction, turn right towards Nynäshamn Norra, Herrhamra, Torö. After about 200 m, turn right towards Herrhamra, Torö. Follow the road to Ankarudden 15 km.

From Södertälje take road 225 towards Nynäshamn. Just after Sorunda, continue straight ahead towards Stora Vika. After another 3 km, when the road splits, keep left towards Stora Vika, Nynäshamn. After 9 km turn right towards Herrhamra. Follow the road to Ankarudden.

Bridge opening occurs at Tottnäs every hour 1/6 - 31/8 08.00 - 20.00, add extra travel time. Paid parking at Ankarudden.

With your own boat: Guest harbor in the north: Skravleviken or Norrhamn. It is also possible to moor in Österhamn, but with limited space as Waxholm traffic uses the harbor in westerly winds.

For reasons of space and emergency response, it is not allowed to dock in Västerhamn (pilot boat harbor).

Especially during the summer, you can moor in one of the bays around the island, if the sea and wind allow. However, keep in mind that passing ships, pilot boats and regular traffic can create large swells.

Regulations

To protect the Öja-Landsort nature reserve, there are rules you must follow. In the reserve it is forbidden to:
