Description
Sculpture in memory of Raoul Wallenberg. The sculpture is a life-size bronze briefcase bearing Raoul Wallenberg's initials. The briefcase is of the type used by Raoul Wallenberg during his work as a Swedish diplomat in 1944-1945 to save Jews from the Holocaust in Budapest. It is placed in Kappsta nature reserve on paving stones from the Jewish ghetto in Budapest. The artists behind the work are Ulla and Gustaf Kraitz. It is a donation by director Marcus Storch.
The sculpture can also be found at the Palace of the Prince of Stockholm, in the sculpture park of the Skissernas Museum in Lund, on Erzsebet Square in Budapest and at the UN headquarters in New York.
Raoul Wallenberg was born in Kappsta and spent his childhood summers here. The house was destroyed by fire in 1933;
