Description

Helveteskällan ("The Hell spring") is 2.4 m wide and 3.5 m deep, making it one of the largest giant's kettles in the country. The kettle may have been a sacred spring for people in olden times; coins from the 1400s were found here when the kettle was drained in the early 1900s.

Giant's kettles like this one formed during the Ice Age. Water currents under the glacier rotated stones which then eroded the bedrock, forming a deep hole. There are several giant's kettles of varying size in the area.

Mind your step! The path is steep and can be slippery.
