Description
Here, you will find one of Sweden's most important military bases from the Cold War era. This is one of the six so-called ERSTA batteries that were built at strategic locations along the Swedish coast in the 1970s, to prevent potential enemies from reaching the mainland.
You can read more about the battery and its history on the informational sign nearby. During the summer, you can enter the battery on a guided tour. More information (in Swedish) can be found on the Landsort Battery website.
ERSTA is a Swedish abbreviation for "Replacement for heavy artillery".
