Myrbacken
Nature reserve

Actions
Currently
The nature reserve has areas affected by spruce bark beetle. Many spruce trees have died and may fall over time, so please be cautious and avoid visiting during windy weather.
The beetles only attack living trees and do not remain in dead wood. Dead trees are left in place to support biodiversity, as they provide important habitats for wildlife, mosses, and lichens.
Description
Myrbacken Nature Reserve is a pleasant area with old-growth forest. There are many small areas of swamp forest, and there is plenty of dead wood, which benefits many species.
Among the most interesting species found here, are the aspen bracket fungus (stor aspticka), mezereon (tibast), linden, twayblade (tvåblad), Spaerda perforata (grön aspvedbock), and flat neckera (platt fjädermossa). All of these are so-called indicator species, meaning that they signal high nature conservation values in the area.
There are no recreational facilities in the reserve, apart from information signs.
