Description

Mårdsjön, south of Lake Erken, is a small forest tarn surrounded by fens, swamp forest, and calcareous coniferous forest. Both the lake and the surrounding mire support valuable plant and animal life associated with these distinctive habitat types.

The lake contains no fish, but no less than 17 species of dragonflies have been recorded here.

There are no recreational facilities in the reserve other than intformational signs.

Regulations

In the reserve it is forbidden to

  1. dig, chop or otherwise damage rock, soil or stone
  2. felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees and shrubs
  3. damage vegetation by digging up plants
  4. camping for longer than two consecutive days
  5. make fires other than in the designated area.
