Actions

Currently

The nature reserve has areas affected by spruce bark beetle. Many spruce trees have died and may fall over time, so please be cautious and avoid visiting during windy weather.

The beetles only attack living trees and do not remain in dead wood. Dead trees are left in place to support biodiversity, as they provide important habitats for wildlife, mosses, and lichens.

Description

Lohärad-Svartkärret Nature Reserve features ancient swamp forest, surrounded by herb-rich spruce woodland. A stream winds through the area, adding to its atmosphere.

The reserve is renowned for its rich variety of fungi, including several red-listed species such as Pycnoporellus fulgens, Phellinus populicola, and violet chanterelle.

There are no visitor facilities in the reserve, apart from informational signs.
