Actions

Currently

The County Administrative Board advises visitors against entering the nature reserve. Spruce trees in this nature reserve have been severely affected by spruce bark beetles. There are many dead trees standing in the forest and along paths. They may fall suddenly and without warning. Due to the risk of accidents, the trail is closed until further notice and will not be maintained.

Description

The Ladängssjön nature reserve is a biologically important forest with high conservation value, located north-west of Lake Erken, a large lake in Norrtälje municipality. The reserve is a part of a cohesive forest landscape that also includes several smaller lakes.

The old undisturbed spruce forest, located on limestone-rich soil, together with the mostly deciduous swamp forest, provide ideal conditions for many unusual mosses, lichens and fungi.

The reserve is also a valuable area for birds, such as grouse and woodpeckers. At Lake Ladängssjön, in the north-western part of the reserve, it's possible to see great crested newts and medicinal leeches in the water.
